Being a mother and grandmother is the best ever! Happy Mother's Day to all who love and nurture and I am so blessed to have so many of you in my life.

This is my clan. My two son's their wives and 4 of my grandchildren. I had to dub Marina into the picture because she was the one behind the camera. Also missing is my step children Kim and Casey and my grandson Gabriel. Love you all!

Getting closer to home. I can't believe we have been on the road since Feb. 10th.

When we left I was showing you pictures of snow now the wild flower are in bloom.

Boy Texas sure was a long ride. It is 830 miles across. Look how the terrain is changing.

Looks like Palmdale. We are now in New Mexico.

Oh Yea! Feels like Palmdale.

We stayed 4 night and 5 days at a KOA in Carlsbad, New Mexico. It was beatuiful. They even had a dog park.

This is the natural entrance to Carlsbad Caverns. The seats are there because each night just befor dark the bats fly out for you to view. Ahhhh no thanks. We got to the bottom of the caverns in an elevator. The elevator dropped 70 stories in just a short time. Scarry!

I'm sorry my pictures did not come out better, but then we were in a cave and it was pretty dark. However, you would really have to be their to enjoy the beauty.

Well that is all for now. We head out tomorrow morning. Not sure where we are headed.

The cemeteries in New Orleans are so unique. I was so amazed by them. They are referred to as Cities of the Dead.

May 2009 San Antonio, Texas

We hit a little weather on our way to San Antonio. When it rains anywhere back here there is alot of water! But that won't dampen our fun!

People back here are not shy about sharing and displaying there beliefs in Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross. Last year we made the trip to Groom, Texas to see the second largest cross in the hemisphere. It is a trip I would highly recommend. It is only 40 miles east of Amarillo, Texas off I40. Google.... Stations of the Cross + Groom, Texas and see all the pictures.

We stayed at Fort Sam Houston Army Base which is know as "The Home of the Combat Medic". I wonder if Leo went there? It was pretty hot in San Antonio so we didn't do alot of site seeing. It was 96 degrees, but the humidity was also 90%.We went to see the Almo.

San Antonio is known for it's River Walk called Paseo del Rio. It's a network of walk ways along the banks of the river, one story beneath downtown San Antonio Texas. It would have been a wonderful walk but remember the heat!!!!!

Yep.....we are working our way west.

We arrived in Pensacola on Saturday and as we were searching for Pensacola Naval Air Station's RV Park we passed this beautiful Church. Yep.... that is where we will worship the Lord tomorrow. Surprisingly or should I say God ordained they had a guest speaker, Tara Brown. What a powerful testimony she shared with us. Check out her sermon at: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1434796

Only in Florida does the sand look like snow. This scene was just like in the picture books. White sand with patches of long grass reaching out. The grass is called sea oats.

And the boardwalks to get you out to this beautiful scene.

Pensacola NAS is the home to the blue angels. Just like Nellis in Las Vegas is home to the Thunderbirds. We've been so blessed to see so much.

Off we go to Biloxi, Mississippi were we stayed at Keesler Air Force Base. Did you know that Biloxi received much more damage from Katrina, 3 1/2 years ago, than New Orleans. 90% of the buildings along the coast and neighboring Gulfport were destroyed. Many of these homes were 100 year old homes. As you can see by this picture nothing on the coast has been rebuilt.

Looks like a pretty scene until you hear that beautiful homes used to literally hide the waterfront and now it is all gone. The Governor stated that after Katrina hit it looked like an American Hiroshimia. Biloxi and Gulfport are still trying to rebuild. Yes they did lose alot of material things but only lost 53 lives.

Were as in New Orleans 1,464 lives were lost. Not to wind damage from Katrina but from flooding. The levee's that surrounded much of New Orleans broke and the water level easily reached roof tops. After the water receded rescuers searched every house. A big X was painted on the house stating what they found and if the gas was turned off. Many of these homes are still there today.

The Jazz Festival was going on. We had Shotzi so we couldn't go in. But we hear people come from all over to attend the Jass Festival.

Lots of VooDoo and Black Magic are still practiced here. We saw that also in Savannah.

I was especially fascinated by the cemeteries. New Orleans is actually below sea level, so all the bodies are placed in above ground tombs.

Schotzi spent the day at doggy day care so we could spend the day in the swamps.

We learned the difference between a canal, river and bayou.

I wonder what is under all that water?????

Looks like Larry found out. I want to hold him too!

Jacksonville, Florida "Margie's Visit"

Margie my BFF who lives in West Palm Beach, Florida drove up to spend a few days with us. She got me a cake and we had another birthday celebration.

PONTOON BOAT DAY

Larry and Margie put their heads together and decided to continue the birthday surprises. After Larry took an online Florida boat licensing test, with Margie's help. (Don't tell our Pastor Rod, but Margie Googled many of the answers on her computer while Larry was taking the test on his. I guess they missed Rod's sermon..... thou shall not cheat:):)Larry got a 94%. So off to the Naval Marina and awaiting us was an amazing pontoon boat, wouldn't you know a Naval Base has water and boats!

Now Larry is making us call him Captain Smith. (We really don't know what we are doing!)

Captain Smith ............. You would think he had been driving boats for ever (this was his first time)

This was so much fun. The water was smooth, the air temp was 75 degrees and nobody had sea sickness.

Yes of course our mascots went with us. Can life get much better? What a fun birthday I have been having.
I have no words except, cute, cute, cute Cleo.

Margie has to go home tomorrow. Thanks Margie! It was so great seeing and spending time with you again. I'll miss you so so so much! You are for sure my BFF.

The South Continues in Savannah, Georgia

We stayed at Fort Stewart Army Base about 20 miles south of Savannah. It was a beautiful camp ground. Very rustic with lots of trees, a beautiful lake, squirrels lots of birds and even vultures. I tried to get a picture of the vultures but my hand was to shakie. This base even had doggy day care so we could go into Savannah everyday without worrying about Schotzi.

Today is our anniversary. 15 years and we are looking forward to the next 15 years!

We spent our first day in Savannah on a tour bus. This is the best way to see things because the drivers give you all the history and take you to the sites. Did you know that General Sherman gave President Lincoln Savannah for his birthday. Sherman actually spared both Charleston and Savannah from being burned down. However Charleston had a terrible fire in the early 1800 and many homes were lost but Savannah has homes dating as far back as 1700. Now remember these two cites were built on the backs of slavery. General Sherman and Lincoln put a stop to that inhuman practice.

Savannah is built around 24 squares. Each square is a park with beautiful trees and monuments. Then the homes were built around the squares.

Remember when Forrest Gump sat on a bench and told the lady that his mama said 'life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you get until you bite into it'. That was filmed in Savannah. Larry wanted to sit on the bench but they put it into the museum.

This monument was in honor of all the African American husband's and son's who fought and died in the Revolutionary War.

This is the first Black Church built in Savannah. The African American men could only work on their church at night. Also many escaped black men hid out at this church.

Did you know that the founder of the girl scouts Juliette Low lived in Savannah?

This is her house. Many girls scout troops visit this house daily.

Voodoo was brought to Savannah by the Caribbean black slaves. Above is a home being protected with glass spikes. This was thought to keep evil spirits away.

We couldn't leave Savannah without seeing the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. It was so beautiful. It was built in the 1800.

This was a organ. It is said to be the biggest organ in the United States.

The Stations of the Cross were breathtaking.

April 23,2009 "So Much History in the South"

CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA

I am by no means a historian but the history back here amazed me! I now know the difference between the blue and the gray. Did you know this is the exact place where the Civil War or the War between the States started. The grays aka the Confederacy were from the south and wanted slavery to continue but the blues aka the union or the Yankees from the north wanted slavery abolished.

Charleston was the home of the grays. We started our tour on a horse drawn buggy.

The homes here look alot like the homes in New Orleans which were also built on the back of the slaves.

A monument dedicated to the Confederates who lost the war. This statue is in Battery Park.

A Civil War Gatling gun in Battery Park. The very first machine gun.

Over the beautiful bridge to Magnolia Plantation.

Magnolia Plantation was a very wealthy rice producer again due to slavery. Most people think that cotton was the big producer but rice was king of the south due to plentiful water.

Schotzi got to tour the plantation with us.

Yes lots of alligators in the swamps on this plantation. The turtles are actually gator food but the gators don't eat in the day time and the turtles seem to know it.

Many birds and animals still inhabit this plantation.

This is were the slaves lived and raised their children to work the land as slaves.

April 15th "Picture Catch-up"

When I last posted I told you my granddaughters were turning 3. They went to Disneyland. Here they are with Tinkerbell.

If you click on any picture they become bigger. We have landed in Charleston, South Carolina. Those pictures will be posted in a few days.

We spent a week with Don & Barb and during that time the four of us went to "THE OUTER BANKS". We stayed at Cherry Point Marine Corp Air Station.

Here is a map of The Outer Banks. We took a 2 1/2 hour ferry ride to get to our first point which was Ocracoke Island where we saw our first light house. Notice how far we are out in the Atlantic Ocean. Anyone seen the movie "The Perfect Storm"? But we enjoyed calm seas.

But the ferry ride was a little disconcerting.

Brotherly love! Don and Larry were having alot of fun teasing Barb and I about the possibility of the ferry sinking.

To get to the second light house we took a 45 minute ferry ride. These light houses are amazing and sad and the same time. Many movies have been filmed here along The Outer Banks. The homes along the drive reminded me of the homes in New Port Beach, California.

Time to head back to Fayetteville, North Carolina and Barb wanted to drive the RV. Just sitting in the seat scared her. So much for a rest for Larry.

Barb and Don said they could really get use to this. Larry is an amazing driver we all feel safe.

Back at Don & Barbs. Schotsi is finally a happy dog again. She just loves playing tug a war with Daniel, Don & Barbs (dachshund) (sp) wiener dog.

Our Trip to DC included a side trip to The United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

This is a picture on our navigator, showing the academy surrounded by water.

Margie's son Tom graduated from here and lived at Bancroft Hall.

These are the quarters for the various instructors.

The Chapel and all the grounds are surrounded with beautiful buildings and statues.

Probably by now you are wondering how Schotsi is getting along. We have a diagnosis. She has separation anxiety.

This is a perfect example of what Shotsi is experiencing when we leave her. And since we have to leave her at times..................

And her new inexpensive chewing prevention device. (Did we tell you she has chewed up 3 seat belts?) But this won't dampen our fun. OK she isn't just in jail and muzzled. We found a wonderful doggy day care that she stayed in everyday we went into Washington DC.

We took the train each day which dropped us off at Union Station.

Yes this is the inside of Union Station. Everything is done on a grand scale in DC.

This is the Jefferson Monument, Larry's favorite. And it was surrounded with Cherry Blossoms. Did you know that Japan gave over 3,000 trees to be planted in DC? And they were all in bloom while we were their.....what luck.

President Jefferson was probably the most educated president we have every had. He wrote The Declaration of Independence. Did you know he also wrote his own version of the bible, which continues to be presented to each legislator in Congress when they are sworn in. He did not change the wording of the bible he just extracted the words of Jesus which spoke to morality.

March 27 "Washington DC is Amazing"

We are staying at Fort Meade in Odenton, Maryland. It is a very nice park and only a 20 minute ride to DC.

I will post more pictures later but here are a few. We spent most of today touring the Sminthonian's. Saturday and Sunday they are expecting rain so we will go back to DC on Monday. DC is amazing. If you do not have a chance to go see Paris, DC is very similar. A French architect desinged DC so that any dignitarie visiting the United States would be welcomed in a grand way.

March 21st "On The Road Again"

Goodbye Uncle Harry............. I Love You!

It has been two weeks since I've blogged. I'm not going to give details of all the things we have done for my Uncle. But I do want to say: "Thank you Jesus that you have given Larry and I the ability, strength and patience to help get Uncle Harry up to healthy and safe standards."

And now we are blessed to leave him in the loving hands of his neighbor Phyllis and her son Anthony. Bye Phyllis. May God bless you for all you do. People here are true fans of the Steelers. Notice her car. It was so great to get to know Phyllis and Antony.

It wasn't all work these past two weeks. We got to spend time with my cousin Marlene and her family. This is her daughter Julie.

This is Cade. Liz's son and Sue Malacosky's grandson. Liz, Dave and Cade lived in California until last year when they moved to Wexford, just 20 miles from Pittsburgh.

This is my 96 year old Aunt on my dad's side. Hi Aunt Clara!

My favorite parts of Pittsburgh was all the bridges and tunnels and the beautiful old buildings.

This picture was taken today. This is our view from our RV site. Tomorrow we are going to a church in West Mifflin, PA, then Monday we will be on the road again.

Oh Yea.......... Schotzi ate both our seat belts, but that's not going to dampen our fun!!!

I don't think Anthony would appreciate me calling him an angel since he is UPMC Security. I'm sorry the picture is blurry. I'll get a new one soon. Phyllis and Anthony check on Uncle Harry twice a day and makes sure he takes his pills, they are his guardian angels. More later...............

March 6th (Friday morning) In Pittsburgh

Tuesday we did get to the National Museum of the United States Air Force. These hangers are full of the real planes! Also in the different time periods they have maniquins to further display that war time.

As you can see it was still cold in Dayton, Ohio. We took Shotzi to a doggy day care so we could enjoy the museum without worring about her. Yes that says 9 degrees.

You know how people swear they have seen a flying UFO. Well they HAVE. Here is a picture and the layout of our very own, bought and paid for by us UFO.

The next pictures are actually on the Base. Only people with base passes could see these planes. This plane was Kennedy's. Infact his body was brought back in it and LBJ was sworn into the presidentcy. So sad. We actually got to walk in it. Larry's favorite plane was the XB-70 and also the P-51 mustang.

We got to Pittsburgh late Wednesday night. Here is a picture of my Uncle Harry. He is 87 years old. Hi Uncle Harry. Now use your imagaination.........., he has never been married and he has never cleaned his house. So.......................we will be very busy the next few days. Probably need to call the hazmat team.

March 1st. Tired; Cold; and Worn Out

Sunday...... Started our morning with praise and worship. Thought we would then head out to see the Air Force Museum,

Yes we have traveled a long way, withstood extreme weather and had our share of RV fix-ups. The 18-degree temp resulted in a frozen sewer line and while Larry was fixing that he noticed that the new jack had sprung a spring. So no museum today. Lets go find some more RV parts. OK to be honest we were starting to loose touch with our trip motto (but this is not going to dampen our fun) when we were reminded who is directing this trip. "Jesus" He directed us to the following scriptures Psalm 37:8.

So watch out Lewis & Clark, Larry and Lindy are happily back on the trail.

I talked to the twins today; they don't understand why they can't see Grandma and Grandpa. Charlotte said..........Grandma I want to see your eyes. Oh how I miss those girls.

Wright Patterson Feb. 27 & 28

Well we lived through Danvill, Illinois..........and didn't get blown to Kansas. Miss you Toto.

Did I mention that this is a familiar site.....................

Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio is huge. The famcamp is nice but we found that getting water out of any outdoor faucet when the temp. is 22 degrees is a challenge. Hooray for blow dryers!

Tomorrow.....Sunday..... we will go visit the Air Force Museum and then Monday make are way to our first planned destination. Hello Uncle Harry.

Larry said don't post this we will have the Secrete Service on us................but you know me.........so here is a picture of Air Force One at WPAFB.

Tuesday............. Made it to Forest City, Iowa Tuesday night. Winnebago provided RV hook-ups in their parking lot. Everything their is supported and or named after the Winnebago Indians. This town would dry up without the Winnebago Factory. This factory is huge. One square mile. The whole town is only about 2 square miles.

Wednesday.............. We had a 7am appointment to get the jack fixed on the RV. The solenoid on the right front jack shorted out. Weather report is saying snow, hail, sleet is approaching. Winnebago knew we needed to get out of this town. They finished the work by 1pm and we were off. The storm was chasing us. We heading directly south down to I70. Stayed that night at Interstate RV park near Davenport, Iowa. Couldn't fill our fresh water tank because everything was frozen. Temp was 22.

Thursday........threatening weather continues. Rain, lots of rain, hard rain…..oh no! can’t shut off windshield wipers. Lindy! Call Winnebago! They said water was probably in the wiring harness. Larry was told to do this very long procedure but yelled at me to go get his WD-40. And it worked. So lets summarize the RV issues. 1. Heater/air conditioning motor broke. 2. Leveling jack broke. 3. Frightening noise under bathroom. 4. Windshield wiper won’t shut off. BUT THIS WON’T DAMPEN OUR FUN…………………

Oh by the way tonight we are sleeping at a Walmart in Danvill, Illinois and the wind gusts are 36 plus MPH. If we live through this we will be staying a few days at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio.

Feb. 22 (Sunday) & 23,(Monday) 2009

Sunday
Went to a local Baptist Church in Colorado Sunday morning. Heard 1 1/2 hours of "Hellfire and Brimstone". I was scared and turn-or-burn Larry really enjoyed it. And that's all I'm going to say about that. Except the choir was truly angelic.

Spent the night at Walmart. Really we could afford a real camp site. It's just that Walmart is so convient. We drive and drive and when we are ready to stop....there is a Walmart. Thank you Walmart.

Today was spent driving all the way across Nebraska....booooooring!

Drive, Drive, Drive Larry. Trust me, I'll get you to Offutt ABF Fam Camp in Omaha.

There was one little glitch. We passed the entrance to the camp because I said wow look at those 747 planes. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted the sign and said OOPS..... I think we just passed the entrance. So Larry had to find a really big area to make a U-turn. Good job Larry.

...Incidental we are the only camper here and there is 40 camp slots. They said something about the weather this time of year. Ha Ha Ha We are looking over a lake that is almost frozen over.

...So here is the latest "Robin Williams RV experience" we are having. But that is not going to dampen our fun. Our right front jack won't come down. So when we leave here tomorrow we drive straight to the Winnebago factory in Forest City, Iowa. Straight up I 35 off of I80. Don't know how long we will be there, we will let you know.

Yes we changed our mind and headed towards Denver on I70. Our first night was spent at a really scary truck stop in Green River, Utah. (has anyone seen the movie "The Hills have Eyes")

Ended our day 16 miles NE of Denver at Super Target, but first Larry had to wash the RV.

You know they just don't make car washes big enough these days.

February 19,2009 Day Ten

We finally caught up to the title of our blog. RV Trip Feb. 19, 2009.....my birthday.

So to celebrate this milestone we are taking this very long RV trip. I want to thank all of you for the thoughtful emails and text messages wishing me a Happy Birthday.

I am especially tickled by the greeting my baby girl, my first grandchild sent me. Isn't she just too cute for words. Thank you Summer, grandma loves you so much!

Larry took me on a tour of Nellis Air Force Base today. Did you know this is the home of the Thunderbirds.

Then off we went for a lovely lunch at Boulder Station. Upon arriving back to the RV he asked me, now what would you like to do for your birthday. (See picture below)

I needed some rest because tomorrow we are back on the road. The AC/Heater motor was fixed this morning. Yea!!!! We will be leaving at 8am tomorrow morning for Hill Air Force Base in Ogden Utah. Then from there we will head to F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne Wyoming.

Great, Great, Great News.................

Allie called this morning and said "The Part Is In", Mike will be over at 8am tomorrow morning to fix the AC/Heating Unit. We are hoping to be back on the road headed east by Friday morning.

Amazing News........Went to Target was gone for 2 hours left Schotzi in RV. When we returned there was no surprises. Good Girl Schotzi! Took her to dog park for a treat and she fell in love with Fred the Pug.

Don't mean to complain, after all this is an Air Force Base, but these planes are getting a little noisy. Reva lie plays at 6:30am and flying starts around 8am and doesn't stop till dusk.

Larry has been overcome by our neighbors toy.

Feb. 17 Day Eight

Quiet day today. Larry went for a drive and Schotzi and I stayed home. As you can see Schotzi was keeping a look out for any intruders. Tomorrow might be a more interesting day because we are running out of LP gas and the gas guy doesn't come until Friday. But that won't damper our fun!

Good News....Our insurance is going to cover 2/3rds Cost

Good News....Made two stops today and Shotzi did not make any messes in the car!!!!!

Good News....Found a great buffet at a new Casino

Bad News................ Easliest the part will be in is Thurday or Friday. So we won't be heading East til Friday or Saturday.

But I want to end on Good News..........God is still are pilot and we have left our schedule in His hands.

Feb. 15 Day Six

Always a great day when we can spend it with God. Went to Central Christian Church in Las Vegas. If they didn't refer to scripture we would have thought we were at a concert at a casino. I guess even God's people do things on a grand scale in Las Vegas.

GOOD NEWS!!! Schotzi has not peed or pooped in the car today. Good Schotzi!

We put extra large black trash bags over the seat. Looks like she was staying busy getting the bags off the seat. Smart Schotzi.

Please pray the part comes in tomorrow and we can get back on the road headed east.

Happy Valentines Day!
Great day! Slept till 9am and went to Boulder Station for buffet lunch.

We have decided to rename Shotzi...IBF.....(Incontinence of all body functions). Our first stop at the BX she peed all over the Honda. Second stop at Boulder Station she left ME an amazing brown deposit, right on my seat. Then dragged it over the rest of the car. But this won't dampen our fun!!! Simple Green to the rescue.

Feb. 13 Day Four

We made it to Las Vegas. The RV Park at Nellis Air Force Base is lovely. The above picture is a hint to what happened today. Yes the heater is broken. But that won't dampen our fun. In fact since the part won't be in until Monday we are stranded in Las Vegas. On darn!

Schotzi is in love. This RV park has a dog park and she met Jake an Australian Shepard and their both in love.

Well three more days in Vegas.....hummmmmm.......buffets.

Day Three

Day three and still in California. Snowed in . . . in Tehachapi. Will we ever get out of this state?!?!

Made it out of Tehachapi. Crossed Cal/Nev border at 3:00 pm.

Good day of driving. Spending night at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas. Hope to make it to Salt Lake City, Utah tomorrow.

Day Two

Morning started with 7AM wakeup call from Kim. Snowing terribly in Tahoe; no way to make it up there. Weather.com says there's no way over Sierra Nevadas. Made U-turn and headed back to Bakersfield. Stopped at Barnes & Noble for reading light. Returned to RV. Schotzi left large deposit on carpet . . . but this can't dampen our fun!

Needed LP gas and fresh water. Drove in circles; finally found location. Larry's screaming at me to tell him if the fresh water tank reads full, I don't answer because I'm screaming at Schotzi to stop peeing on my goose down feather bed conforter. But this isn't going to dampen our fun! Found laundromat. Spent three hours washing/drying bedding.

Began morning in Merced; left Merced about 4:00 pm heading back south. Cooking in moving RV to save time. Spilled green beans on floor . . . that's not going to dampen our fun!

Made it to Tehachapi. Spending night at K-Mart.

Day One

Started with an amazing visit with both my son's, the twins & Michelle. Ended at Walmat in Merced next to the train tracks. But no noisy train can dampen our fun. Not even the rain!
